Launch of our new website and of our #SligoSsummerCycling initiative on Wednesday next May 19th at 7 30 pm
Sligo Cycling Campaign is pleased to invite everybody in Sligo with an interest in cycling and active travel to come along to the launch of our new website and of our #SligoSsummerCycling initiative on Wednesday next May 19th at 7 30 pm. Thankfully we are more free to meet and to travel than we have been for some time but alas real public meetings are still some way off, so this event will be held virtually over Zoom. You can get the link to register by emailing sligocycles@gmail.com. Minister of State at the Department of Health, Frank Feighan has kindly agreed to launch the event.
Gemma Woods, PRO of Sligo Cycling Campaign urges attendees to come along to hear how children in Strandhill just love to cycle to school. "A Cycle Bus family will share their story as will other local everyday cyclists including a Dad, a healthcare worker and a commuter. The Campaign will also introduce our brand new website, which has been designed so as to keep Sligo people abreast of happenings in the field of cycling and active travel" said Woods.
Chairperson of Sligo Cycling Campaign, Joan Swift, said " Sligo County County has recently received an allocation of more than €2.5M for walking and cycling projects and we are looking forward to seeing the roll-out of new cycling infrastructure in due course Local schools have also been applying for Safe Routes to School funding and we hope that Sligo will soon have school zones and streets similar to those in Dublin and Galway. For this coming summer though we just want to celebrate cycling and encourage everyone to get out on their bikes. We would love everybody to register in good time for our virtual public meeting on the 19th. The meeting will last for one hour and conclude at 8 30pm"
